The process of considering or making a new prosthesis
Before deciding on a prosthesis, it makes sense to:
assessment of the condition of your trunk and other leg based on medical records
assessment of advantages and limitations of prosthetic care
determine short-term and long-term goals of prosthetic care
review the possibilities of prosthetic components - available technologies, their advantages and disadvantages
1. How to prepare for prosthetic assessment?
Please contact us by phone or e-mail before your visit. You will receive an exact appointment (date, time).
Bring your Order Form for the medical technical device (if you already have it, you can do it afterwards; as a self-payer you don't need it), diagnostic papers (X-ray, MRI, CT scan) or any documentation that you and/or your doctor think would be were important for prosthetic care.
Bring comfortable clothing, loose clothing that allows easy access to the areas being examined, shorts preferred.

After the prosthetic evaluation, you can decide to take the measurement, or take the time to think about it and visit us later
2. Measurement:
During the measurement, we discuss the prosthesis, its aesthetics, how to wear it, how to clean it, and other questions that arise for patients. For measurements, we use the only state-of-the-art 3D optical scanner in Slovenia.
The measurement can also be done by the plastering method, depending on the complexity of the carnage and the level of amputation
The measurement time, including the conversation about the prosthesis itself, wearing it, and other questions, is approximately 30-60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the prosthetic care and the customer's wishes, while the scan itself takes 2-3 minutes. Along with the scan, we also take some measurements with a tape measure and a tape measure. According to the plastering method, the time is slightly longer. During the measurement, the prosthetic components (foot, knee,...) are also tentatively agreed upon. All tasks are performed by an authorized B.Sc. in Orthotics and Prosthetics with many years of practice in the field of prosthetics.
The patient is in underwear (preferably tight-fitting underwear), dressed normally above.
In the case of a silicone bed, an additional visit is required to determine the size of the silicone. At the second visit, a measurement is performed via silicone according to the methods described above.
IMPORTANT:
The customer should bring the following to the measurement:
all medical documentation (findings, X-ray images,...)
old prosthesis
order form for a medical technical device-prosthesis prescription (if the payer is ZZZS)
If this is your first prosthesis, the shin should be properly wrapped with a compression bandage (shin care), as this is the only way we can get a proper shot. The measurement is done at URI Soča, as well as all further adjustments and final installation.
3. Test:
•Bring loose clothing
•The bed will be installed for the first time
•Adjustment of the bed and statics of the prosthesis
•Tested walking and examination of prosthetic components
•Learning how to fit the prosthesis correctly
• After the end of the examination, in most cases we keep the prosthesis with us so that cosmetics can be made
• in more demanding cases, you can test the prosthesis for a while at home, in your environment, and only then do the cosmetic process
• We offer our customers a free test (7-14 days) of electronic knees and feet, more expensive, above-standard prosthetic components, which are not paid for by the Slovenian Health Insurance Institute - a prior agreement is required at the time of measurement.
4. Application of the prosthesis:
The process of final fitting of the prosthesis is unique for each patient, so the information below is only a guideline of our clinical process. More demanding cases may require several visits in order to enable the best placement of the prosthesis. During the final placement:

IMPORTANT: Loose clothes or shorts are preferred, as in previous visits
5. Repairs:
There can be several reasons for the repair of the prosthesis, which are solved in different ways.
First prostheses:
After a certain time, the skin changes, which is usually the result of atrophy (reduction) of the muscles.
Solution: We make an appointment for the visit and adjust the bed accordingly. You do not need any documents to adjust the bed. When the adjustment is no longer possible, and the crown reaches a stable shape and dimensions, it is necessary to make a new bed (approximately 6 months after receiving the first prosthesis). During this time, it makes sense to talk about a better bed, if the condition of the skin and the general state of health allow it. but you can be a self-payer (order form for MP is not required).
Other prostheses:
Repairs that are a matter of warranty are free of charge, unless the condition of the hull has changed. After the warranty has expired, repair is possible in most cases, but it is chargeable. The payer of the repair can be ZZZS (up to half the value of the new prosthesis). In this case, you need an order form for MP + proforma invoice + confirmation from ZZZS user as a self-payer
