First information about the prosthesis

Losing a body part doesn't mean you have to change your lifestyle. If you are faced with the possibility of leg amputation, or if you have already undergone surgery, we invite you to a consultation about the possibility of providing a prosthesis. Our prosthetist will introduce you to different options, types of prosthetic beds and prosthetic components (feet, knees), taking into account your health and physical condition. It is desirable to cooperate with the surgeon before the operation, as this way we can get closer to the optimal properties of the crown for later successful prosthetic care.

The goal of prosthetic rehabilitation is to safely achieve independence with minimal energy expenditure. In other words, our goal is to enable you to reintegrate into society as best as possible and achieve maximum efficiency with the prosthesis.

For the manufacture of your first prosthesis, despite being placed at the URI Soča department, you have the right to choose your prosthetist, or the company that will make your prosthesis, but of course you must inform the doctor who will prescribe you the prosthesis immediately upon admission. If you are already using a prosthesis, admission to the prosthetics department at URI Soča is not required to make a new prosthesis.

The consultation is also suitable for people who already use a prosthesis, but the prosthesis does not allow them all the desired activities, or does not suit them.
